A Singed Wing

How do we provide inspiration and beauty of flight when our wings have been singed? Repeatedly, we try to take flight and no matter how promising our rise may be, ultimately we end up grounded, broken. I have done my best to remain faithful that my wings will spread and I will take flight. I just want to feel the warmth of the sun on my face and the beauty of its light illuminating my colorful wings. I have so much beauty to offer, but my wing has been singed and I am finding difficulty in flying. The world around me is dark. The light coming in is dim, and lacking the warmth I need to live. I watch as other butterflies are captured by the darkness, and their wings are plucked away…they will never have the chance to fly. All of the colorful beauty they had to give the world will never be captured in the sun. The young caterpillars are losing focus on their journey to become a butterfly. They fear not being able to fly, so they move quickly through the phases that were designed to help them grow strong. Unfortunately, without having the chance to learn and grow, they are not strong enough to emerge into the world and fly. Many exits the cocoon, weak, broken, or worse, they don’t make it out at all. What is the end of the caterpillar, is intended to be the beginning of the butterfly. I guess with so many damaged caterpillars spinning cocoons, it’s no wonder the world is lacking the emergence of strong, bright, colorful butterflies. How unfortunate it is to watch as the darkness in the world diminishes the beauty in the colors of the butterfly.
